Cathy is a certified Practicing Speech Pathologist with over 30 years experience having worked in the Qld Education Department, Hospital and Community Health services in the Tweed and in private practice for 9 years. She is married with 3 adult daughters.

Cathy has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of children with speech (articulation) , receptive and expressive language , literacy (reading and writing)and fluency (stuttering) difficulties.

Cathy continually updates her skills and knowledge

Cathy has completed the following:
- Hanen “It Takes Two to Talk” and “ Target Word” courses for late talkers.
- Hanen “More Than Words” and “Talkability” courses for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
- Sounds Write – a phonics approach to the teaching of reading and spelling - a linguistic -phonics program

Cathy has substantial experience with adults who have suffered strokes , and a range of other neurological disorders e.g. Parkinsons Disease, motor neurone disease. She can provide assessment ,diagnosis and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders. She has training in the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment Program for Parkinson’s patients.

Cathy has extensive experience in assessing and treating voice disorders e.g. muscle tension dysphonia ,vocal nodules ,and have seen clients under Work Cover NSW and QLD.

Cathy has provided services to NDIS patients who are self or plan managed. She can assist with mealtime management plans and functional communication assessments

She has training in “Talking Mats” to assist clients who have difficulty with cognition and oral communication.
